The Partnership

One address for the questions that truly matter.

BENTE & MEIER Attorneys is an owner-led partnership in Berlin-Wilmersdorf. Across many areas of civil law, we help with long-standing experience; our particular focuses are white-collar and tax criminal law, employment, tenancy, construction and real-estate law.

Dr. Ulrich Bente and Kathleen Meier run the partnership together. We advise mid-sized companies, managing directors and private clients where commercial, personal and legal interests meet. No volume work: a manageable circle of matters, each personally led, often over years as a trusted point of contact.

Our emblem, the Victoria of the Victory Column, holds a special meaning for our family. About us →

Fees

First clarify the costs. Then the mandate.

Legal advice should not begin with open questions about fees. We clarify the framework early and explain what an initial assessment can cover.

01

Clear first step

You know what belongs to the initial consultation and when a separate mandate begins.

02

Suitable basis

If the matter continues, we choose the right basis: RVG, time spent, a flat fee or another permitted arrangement.

03

Possible relief

Legal expenses insurance or legal aid are taken into account where the documents suggest they may apply.

Court fees, disbursements or travel costs matter only if the mandate actually triggers them. We explain such points early and plainly.

Process

From first contact to a clear line.

When deadlines are short, an orderly start matters. We clarify responsibility, documents and costs before moving into the substance.

Deadline? Please contact us directly. A short summary plus a photo or PDF is enough to start.

Confidential. Personal. No unnecessary preparation.

  1. 01

    5-minute overview

    Describe the matter

A short overview by phone or form is enough at first. Mention deadlines, the opposing party and any file number if available.

  2. 02

    PDF, photo, file number

    Collect documents

Contracts, notices, dismissals, correspondence or photos can be sent together by e-mail. We only need originals where the original document itself matters legally.

  3. 03

    Costs & next steps

    Set the strategy

You receive a clear assessment of sensible next steps, likely costs and the person at the firm who remains your contact.

Frequently asked

Answers to what clients ask first.

  • For consumers, § 34 RVG caps the initial consultation at EUR 190 plus VAT. It includes one consultation, review of essential letters and an initial legal assessment; any further work is agreed separately.

  • A yellow envelope usually means formal service by German postal certificate. The contents are deemed received even if you do not read the letter. Deadlines may start running, for example for an objection or response. You should seek legal advice as soon as possible.

  • We usually respond on the next business day. In urgent cases, such as a search or short deadlines, it is best to reach us by phone.

  • Useful documents include deadlines, contracts, notices, dismissals, correspondence, photos and file numbers. If time is short, a brief phone overview is enough to begin.

  • No. We take on matters in the legal areas we know well. If your issue is outside our practice, we will say so clearly; often we can recommend someone from our professional network.

  • We advise fluently in German, English and Spanish. For other languages, we can arrange communication depending on the matter.

  • Not always. Court hearings and external appointments mean the lawyers are not continuously at the office. The secretariat is staffed Monday to Thursday from 9:00 to 16:00 and Friday from 9:00 to 13:00. Please make an appointment.

  • Not always. For larger, complex or especially sensitive matters, meeting in person can be better. Many issues can also be handled by e-mail, phone, Zoom or Teams.

  • Yes. We act throughout Germany and internationally where the matter requires it. Berlin and Brandenburg remain our base; in criminal, immigration and cross-border matters, we can also support you beyond that.

Always for your rights.
